The Perfect go between for X series headsets and PS3.,
I am currently using this to enable a set of Turtle Beach X11s work on my PS3. The sound card plugs into the USb port of the PS3, and enables both Mic (voice chat) and game sound to come through the headset.
Invaluable for those with any X series (Xbox 360) headsets who don’t want to fork out more money to buy a P series (Playstation) headset to work on the PS3.

Used for Headphone Listen on a DJ set-up,
If you’re looking for a USB sound card to add to your system as a secondary device in order to add LISTEN or PRE-HEAR functionality to your DJ set-up, this works perfectly. I’m over the moon with it.
I use this device on an iMac running OS X version 10.6.4 and the device itself works absolutely perfectly. In fact, better than the internal card as it outputs a higher frequency range of 48Khz as opposed to a standard 44.1Khz. If that’s too much technical info, basically CD quality sound is 44.1Khz, and this product has the ability to output an even higher range, so better than CD quality sound.
I have to say I ran into a problem, but NOT with the Amigo II sound card. My problem was the application in which I was using it for. I have a Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 which is connected to my iMac. The software that comes with the DJ Control allows you to use a LISTEN or MONITOR so you can effectively hear the next track you are lining up on a separate pair of headphones and have the track synchronised and beat matched before you mix across. However, because of the way the software works you need either a single sound card with TWO stereo outputs, or you can use two separate sound cards with a single stereo output. The software needs an output for the track you are playing and another one to allow you to hear the next track on LISTEN. With my iMac only having a single stereo output sound card, I bought this to add a second device for the LISTEN functionality.
The problem I ran in to was that the software effectively has to time the two separate sound cards to work together. There is no mention of this timing in the manual of the software, the DJ Control, the Amigo II website and hardly anywhere in any reviews. If the timing is incorrect you will get a horrible buzz, or a hiss, clicks, distortion, etc. This could be the problem some others are having if they already have a sound card installed in their system. Imagine trying to listen to the same song using two different makes of CD player at the same time. Even though both tracks start at the same time, they would eventually go out of synch and clash. In the digital world this clash can cause horrible audio distortion.
My issue was solved via an Apple Support page basically telling me to create an “aggregate device” which fools the computer into thinking it has a single sound card with two stereo outputs).
My advice would be this; if you have no sound card at all then this truly is plug-and-play, and it’s top notch. However, if you already have a sound card you may run into problems with the equipment not timing correctly between the sound card you already have installed and this separate device plugged into your USB port. Be aware this is a universal problem and not specific to Turtle Beach.
If you’re getting this to replace a broken sound card, my suggestion is to completely remove the broken sound card hardware and remove any software relating to it. If it’s a laptop you have, you need to disable the broken sound card. Somehow.
Overall, after eventually sorting out the SOFTWARE and latency issues I had with my pre-existing sound card, this one works exactly as it should.

Good quality sound…mic is not loud enough,
Fast delivery!
Good quality sound, but lacking in functions. Sound is clear and detailed for music, although this card comes with no extra features that I would expect on a £20 sound card. No mic boost, no stereo mix/’what u hear’, no DSP effects, and no ability to monitor your mic sound in the Playback propterties.
The lack of a mic boost or gain, is this cards biggest problem. The mic signal is not strong enough on it’s own, and there’s no boost function that most caards of this type do normally have. The practical problem with this, is that people will complain they can’t hear you when using software like Skype. It is nice to be able to move the mic arm away from your mouth, to avoid loud breathing noises being blasted at the person you are talking with. Unfortunately, the mic is so underpowered that you can’t move that mic arm out of the way…a serious pain!
Conclusion: If you don’t use your computer to talk to people, then for music and other sounds, this card is fine. Can’t recommend it for conversation though.
